Single-strung piano

Single-strung Viennese action piano after an Anton Walter instrument dated 1802 in the Finchcocks Collection. The case is quarter-sawn Columbian pine with a painted penwork design. The legs are detachable and there is a knee-operated sustaining pedal. The strings are brass core, open-spun copper winding in the lower register, brass in the middle and soft iron in the treble.
